Here is our first post from Melissa Williams Netherton of ZD Studio. She is our San Diego Craft Correspondent.
The Striving Artist, a new art gallery located in the North Park area in San Diego, opened for business this month and is already getting quite a bit of attention! The gallery features unique, handmade items ranging from paintings to jewelry to home décor. Sam, the owner of the gallery, was inspired to start The Striving Artist as an undergraduate Art student when she realized that artists needed more venues to sell their work and patrons needed more places to buy authentic and unique art work at affordable prices. In addition to the gallery, she also wanted to have a place that offered a variety of art classes, both for youth and adults.
When choosing artists for The Striving Artist, Sam looks for people working in different mediums so that she can offer the most variety to her customers. She looks for artists at all levels, some of which have been making and selling their work for years and some who may be new but very talented.
