I'm hanging out in Virginia right now, and in spite of earthquakes and hurricanes it's been a wonderful time. I've been checking out the indie scene, and it's clear that VA has a lot of very creative folks. Below are three brick and mortar shops that highlight the work of VA artists and makers.
Quirk Gallery
311 W Broad St
Richmond, VA 23220
The gallery at Quirk features exhibitions of innovative work by established as well as emerging artists, while the shop offers unique, practical, and decorative items that are guaranteed to bring a little style into your life. From wearable artwork to home goods and accessories, Quirk has something wonderful for all.
Covet
5140 Wilson Blvd
Arlington, VA 22205
Sabrina Cabada and Autumn Clayton are behind Covet, a hip art boutique specializing in local creatives. They carry everything from one-of-a-kind furniture to handmade bags to trendy accessories. They also feature trunk shows and artwork from local and national artists.
Handmade VA
308 W 21st St
Norfolk, VA 23517
Handmade VA features "handmade art and crafty goodness" from local Virginia artists. I'm an especial fan of the gorgeous leather cuffs by Ashton Keely.
