If you are or have ever been a student of literature, you know the phrase, "Context is key." The context of a piece of literature - the time period, the historical events surrounding and influencing it, the culture, the politics - are all contributing factors to the work itself. Context is a lens through which we can properly understand and connect with what the author is saying.
Believe it or not, it's the same with your products. If your indie biz involves selling items online, that means you have to write item descriptions.
Your item descriptions are the context of your work.
You include things like your item's color, dimensions, materials, the way it tastes or feels. You include the story behind your work. Without these things, your item is just another widget sitting around, collecting dust. With them, your customers have a way of connecting with your work, understanding and desiring it. Context is key.
